Former State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Sentenced to 16 Months in Prison

The Higher Court in Belgrade has sentenced the former State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP), Dijana Hrkalovic, to 16 months in prison for abusing her position in the Ministry to obstruct investigations and the prosecution of criminals.

Former State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Sentenced to 16 Months in Prison

Co-defendant Dejan Milenkovic was acquitted, while Milorad Susnjic received a one-year prison sentence.

Hrkalovic was convicted of the criminal offense of influence peddling. She was not present at the sentencing, nor were her lawyers or legal representatives, while Milenkovic and Susnjic were in attendance.

Co-defendant Dejan Milenkovic was acquitted of the charge of abuse of office, while Milorad Susnjic was convicted of abuse of official position and sentenced to one year in prison.

Hrkalovic, along with the former Head of the Novi Sad Police Administration, Milorad Susnjic, and the co-defendant, former Head of Special Investigative Methods, Dejan Milenkovic, has denied the charges against them since the trial began.
