The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, met with the founder, CEO, and co-owner of the Web Summit, Patrick Cosgrave, to discuss the possibility of Belgrade and Serbia hosting this largest global tech conference.
In a post on Instagram, Vucic mentioned that he had a very important meeting with Cosgrave and that it was a great opportunity to exchange ideas on ways to improve the tech sector in Serbia, which would contribute to its economic growth and development.
"We talked about the possibility of Belgrade and Serbia hosting the world’s largest tech conference, Web Summit. During the conversation, I emphasized the success we achieved at the last Summit, where 60 Serbian innovative companies participated," Vucic stated.
He stressed that Serbia and Belgrade have a lot to offer and can ensure the best organization of an event that connects global politics, technology, and innovation.
Vučić highlighted that this would position Serbia in the global tech environment as a key player in the IT scene, while simultaneously opening doors for new foreign investments, partnerships, tourism growth, and strengthening the reputation and brand of Serbia's capital city.
"This is an opportunity for us to secure the future of Serbia on the world stage, something that rarely presents itself," Vucic said.
The relationship between Belgrade and Beijing serves as a model of international cooperation, stated Chinese Ambassador Li Ming.
