Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated in a podcast with Donald Trump Jr. that Serbia has experienced significant economic development in recent years, maintains an independent and sovereign approach in international politics, but is also facing protests financed from abroad.
In an interview for the podcast Triggered on Rumble, hosted by the son of former U.S. President Donald Trump, Vucic said that Serbia is not yet an EU member and is on a "new path" of development.
"But our country was number two fastest growing economy last year. This year we believe that Serbia is going to be number one fastest growing economy. in Europe, and in the recent years, we really made a big economic development and a big impact on people's living standards as well. Of course, the situation is never ideal, and you can always criticize many things, but generally speaking, we are heading, or Serbia is on the right path," Vucic said.
He emphasized that Serbia is investing heavily in infrastructure projects and working to attract substantial foreign direct investments, which it has successfully done in recent years.
"On the other hand, we still brag ourselves of having an independent and sovereign approach towards international political events, actors, and also ideas. And that's what, in a way, makes a difference between us and at least many European Union countries. On the other hand, there are a few countries in Europe that are facing protests. Right now, one out of these countries is Serbia. Big protests against us because of that canopy fall that happened on November the 1st," Vucic stated.
