"Von der Leyen and I had an important meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic," Costa stated on his account on X.
He added that the meeting focused on the need for progress in EU-related reforms, noting that advancements are needed in media freedom, the fight against corruption, and electoral reform.
"Tangible achievements in areas that can directly benefit the Serbian people are within reach. Serbia's future lies in the EU," Costa emphasized.
A similar message was posted by Ursula von der Leyen on social media X.
"Together with the President of the European Council, we had an important meeting with President Aleksandar Vucic. The country needs to deliver on EU reforms, in particular to take decisive steps towards media freedom, the fight against corruption and the electoral reform. Serbia’s future lies in the EU," Von der Leyen highlighted.
After the working meeting with Costa and von der Leyen, Vucic stated that the conversation in Brussels with the European officials was cordial, substantive, and open. He added that the key topic was Serbia's European future, and that Serbia will remain dedicated to this goal.
