"The most important news for our citizens is that Kosovo and Metohija, the southern Serbian province, is not and will not become a member of the Council of Europe today," emphasized Djuric, who is participating in the session of the Committee of Ministers.
He noted the significance of the Quint countries not supporting the inclusion of Pristina’s membership on the agenda and recalled that Kosovo's membership was also blocked last year, thanks to Serbia’s diplomatic efforts – primarily those of President Aleksandar Vucic, who engaged with European leaders at the highest levels during that period.
"In my address to the Committee of Ministers, I stressed that as we mark the anniversaries of the UN Charter and the Council of Europe, we must not forget that Serbia was admitted into the Council of Europe 22 years ago as a democratic state within its internationally recognized borders. We are a country that firmly upholds the principles of international law and advocates for democratic principles – not ethnocratic or ethno-nationalist ones," said Djuric.
