Assistant Police Director: Most Roadblocks in Serbia Removed, 44 People Detained
Colonel Zeljko Brkic, Assistant Director of the Police, stated that most of the roadblocks across Serbia have been removed and that traffic is functioning normally.
"From June 29 to July 1, we detained a total of 76 individuals – 66 for misdemeanors and 10 for criminal offenses," Brkic emphasized.
He added that the night passed peacefully – police checked the IDs of 437 people, and 44 individuals were brought to official premises – 38 for misdemeanors and six for criminal offenses.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivica Dacic, stated that 48 police officers and 22 civilians were injured, and 77 individuals were detained—38 of whom remain in custody—during the unrest in Belgrade following a student protest.
Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic stated that 19,903 protests were held in Serbia between November 1 and June 15, that the police professionally maintained order despite numerous challenges, and that LRAD devices were not activated during the protests.
"Six individuals were held – four under the Misdemeanor Law and two under the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code. Most blockades have been removed, and currently, there are no unlawful or illegal activities that would threaten the normal functioning of citizens," Brkic stated.
He also said that during the blockades, containers and improvised materials were used to obstruct the passage of people and vehicles, and that it's difficult to determine the exact number of participants, which ranged from several dozen to several hundred
