Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP): 976 Individuals Identified, 72 Detained During the Previous Night
Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted identity checks on a total of 976 individuals during the previous night, while 72 people were brought to police stations, the ministry reported.
According to the MUP, 64 individuals were brought in for committing misdemeanors, while eight were detained on suspicion of violating provisions of the Criminal Code and committing criminal offenses through their actions.
“Additionally, in the territory of the Republic of Serbia over the past 24 hours, there were 117 unregistered public gatherings and 87 traffic blockades. In the area of the City of Belgrade alone, 68 traffic blockades were recorded at 71 gathering locations,” the statement said.
Colonel Zeljko Brkic, Assistant Director of the Police, stated that most of the roadblocks across Serbia have been removed and that traffic is functioning normally.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivica Dacic, stated that 48 police officers and 22 civilians were injured, and 77 individuals were detained—38 of whom remain in custody—during the unrest in Belgrade following a student protest.
According to the MUP, most blockades in Serbia and Belgrade have been removed, and all roads are passable except for the blockade on Vladika Nikolaj Street in the city of Valjevo. Sporadic incidents were recorded in some places, with police responding in accordance with the law.
Incidents occurred in Zemun, Nis, Novi Sad, and Valjevo, where several individuals were detained for disturbing public order and committing criminal offenses.
As a reminder, arrests of students in front of university buildings began the day after the Vidovdan protest, prompting citizens to organize acts of civil disobedience by blocking roads, intersections, and bridges.
Several incidents were recorded in Belgrade during the previous evening.
