Serbian Government Allocates 350 Million Dinars to Support Fire-Affected Citizens
The Government of the Republic of Serbia announced that it has formed a Commission for Damage Recovery following the fires that affected several areas of Serbia during July this year and has allocated 350 million dinars to assist those impacted.
According to the statement, the government adopted a Decision on the Formation of the Commission for Damage Recovery Resulting from Fires in the Republic of Serbia.
The commission’s mandate is to monitor the situation and direct efforts toward both mitigating the consequences of the fires and preventing potential damage from future fire outbreaks.
"The Commission’s tasks include collecting and systematizing damage data across all sectors, coordinating the development of aid and recovery programs, determining priorities, responsible parties, necessary equipment, timelines, required funding, and all other data essential for efficiently addressing and alleviating the consequences of the fires that struck Serbia in July 2025," the government emphasized.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali opened the investment conference “Investment Conference – Expo Osaka 2025” in Osaka, inviting Japanese companies to come to Serbia, describing it as “a country that serves as a bridge between East and West".
U.S. President Donald Trump has notified more than 10 countries of new tariff rates set to take effect on August 1, with Serbia facing tariffs of 35 percent. He noted that such tariff policy could change if a trade agreement is reached.
It was further stated that the commission will collaborate with all relevant bodies, organizations, and local government units affected by the fires. Technical and administrative support will be provided by the Ministry for Public Investments, whose minister also serves as the commission’s chair.
Finance Minister Sinisa Mali stated that the Commission for Damage Recovery has already held its first meeting, and one of its primary tasks will be to collect damage reports.
"This means that affected citizens will receive funds for the reconstruction of their homes as quickly as possible, as well as for compensating damage to agricultural and livestock holdings. Right now, our absolute priority is helping people, and that will remain the case until the very last household is restored. Citizens will not be left alone in this - we will overcome everything together", Mali concluded.
