Vucic Hosts Farewell Visit of EU Delegation Chief Emanuele Giaufret
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic received Emanuele Giaufret, Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, on a farewell visit. Giaufret held the position since September 2021.
“A cordial and friendly meeting with Ambassador Emanuele Giaufret and an excellent opportunity to review the results of our cooperation, which during his mandate further strengthened Serbia–EU relations. We also exchanged views on other important topics concerning our partnership with the Union in many areas of mutual interest,” Vucic wrote on Instagram.
He added that they especially discussed the implementation of projects outlined in the EU's Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, as well as joint energy and infrastructure projects, in which the EU has been a reliable and strong partner for Serbia.
Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Emanuele Giaufret, stated at a reception marking Europe Day that he expects the EU to complete its enlargement and for Serbia to take its rightful place within the European family.
Prime Minister of Serbia Djuro Macut met with the Ambassador and Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Emanuele Giaufret, and stated that EU membership is Serbia’s strategic commitment and a priority of its foreign policy.
“I reiterated our appreciation for cooperation with the EU, which is Serbia’s largest foreign trade partner and one of the biggest investors in projects that have transformed Serbia and improved the quality of life for our citizens. We recalled both difficult and pleasant moments, when we worked step by step on reforms and initiatives that brought great benefits, especially in energy, environmental protection, and infrastructure connectivity with the EU,” Vucic noted.
He expressed special gratitude to Ambassador Giaufret for his personal commitment to strengthening cooperation with Serbia and for his friendship with the country.
“I wished him great success in his future professional engagements and invited him to visit Serbia again as a dear and respected guest,” Vucic concluded.
