Congresswoman Tenney Calls for Release of Deputy Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija
Claudia Tenney, a Republican representative from the U.S. state of New York and co-chair of the Serbian Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives, stated that she is concerned about the arrest of Igor Popovic, the Deputy Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.
"I am deeply concerned that the Kosovo police have unjustly arrested Igor Popovic. U.S. President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have clearly emphasized that freedom of speech is a fundamental human right that must be upheld," Tenney said in a post on the social network X.

Tenney also called on the President of the provisional institutions in Pristina, Vjosa Osmani, to "immediately release Mr. Popovic and end his detention."

The Basic Court in Pristina ordered the detention of up to 30 days for the assistant director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Igor Popovic, who was arrested on Friday at the Brnjak administrative crossing.
Popovic was arrested on Friday, July 18, at the Brnjak administrative crossing, following a speech he gave at a memorial service for victims from the municipality of Orahovac, held in Velika Hoca. He was ordered into 30 days of detention for allegedly inciting division and intolerance during his speech.
