President of Montenegro Sends Letter of Gratitude to Leaders of Countries That Assisted in Fighting Fires
Following the recent fires that swept across almost the entire territory of Montenegro, President Jakov Milatovic sent letters of gratitude to the presidents of countries that provided assistance in extinguishing the blaze.
Letters of thanks were addressed to the President of Croatia Zoran Milanovic, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Becirovic, Zeljka Cvijanovic, and Zeljko Komsic, President of Hungary Tamas Sulyok, President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel, President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen, and President of the Swiss Confederation Karin Keller-Sutter.
Wildfires are raging across multiple locations in Montenegro. Firefighters battled the blazes throughout the night – in Podgorica, Niksic, Bijelo Polje, Canj, and Buljarica.
In his letter of gratitude, Milatovic stated that Montenegro had faced not only a major ecological but also a social catastrophe over the past ten days.
“The loss of our soldier, Dejan Bozovic, is a collective pain and a wound that will remain even after the fires are extinguished. Montenegro, though proud and strong in spirit, cannot cope alone with challenges of such magnitude. The bright spot in this dark moment is the certainty that we have friends we can rely on. Allow me therefore to express my sincere gratitude for the assistance provided. Images of friendly forces standing shoulder to shoulder with our firefighters, soldiers, and police officers bring faith in a new day and have brought relief to the entire nation of Montenegro,” Milatovic wrote, among other things.
