Students from the Mathematical Gymnasium in Belgrade have won more than 70 medals at various international competitions in less than a year – over 30 of them just this summer.
While athletes represented Serbia in arenas and swimming pools, these students represented the country with their knowledge at the highest level. The school’s principal, Mirjana Katic, told Newsmax Balkans she is extremely proud of her students. She noted that she maintains a friendly and supportive relationship with them.
“I’ve always tried – both when I was a teacher and during the last six years as principal – to be close to my students in the right way, to know them, to be aware of the competitions they’ve been to, what their strengths are, and what still needs improvement. Their knowledge is above average, but there is always room for more,” said the principal.
She emphasized that the students’ success sends an important message about the need to recognize and nurture talent.
