Part of the representatives of the five Serbian opposition parties, who spoke to the members of the European Parliament in Strasbourg about the current political situation in Serbia, requested sanctions for Vucic, Prime Minister Djura Macut, President of the Serbian Parliament Ana Brnabic and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic.
"I think it speaks of, first of all, a great lack of moral credibility. Many people and friends asked me today, so what did you expect. Because I asked them all day, busy now that I finished those meetings, I say, is it possible that they really did this? Is it possible that they really sought sanctions against their own people, against those in power? They say, it's not the people. It is, it's the people," said Vucic.
He pointed out that when you seek sanctions against the power holders, you are seeking against your own country and your own people.
"They also sought sanctions against policemen and their children. Why? Because they suffered attacks every day on the street. They literally suffered brutal attacks, when they beat the policemen with four-meter poles and then said how the policemen trampled everything in front of them, destroyed, demolished everything in front of them and so on. This is a lack of moral credibility because I was sure that they could not go that far," Vučić stressed.
People's deputy from the opposition Biljana Djordjevic said at the panel discussion that Marti Kos and Kaja Kalas have already been presented with requests for the introduction of sanctions against the holders of power in Serbia.
"We want sanctions, a travel ban and the freezing of the assets of the key actors of the regime, Brnabic, Vucic, Macut, Dacic, from the policemen to the officials who carried out the torture," she said, adding that it is necessary to investigate whether "European taxpayers' money is being used for the corruption of Serbia's top government".
Representatives of the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP), ZLF, PSG, Serbia Center (SRCE) and the National Movement of Serbia (NPS) spoke about the current political situation in Serbia at the panel discussion "Serbia: Democracy at the Crossroads", organized by three political groups in the European Parliament - Socialists and Democrats, Greens and Let's Renew Europe, and in which MEPs Katlin van Brent (Socialists and Democrats), Vladimir Prebilic (Greens) and Helmut Brandstetter participated. (Let's rebuild Europe).
