“A good, excellent, open meeting, and we are moving forward,” said Brnabic at a press conference in Brussels, adding that such discussions are important for Serbia on its European path.

She noted that Metsola informed her that the European Green parties disapproved of the way Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic addressed one Member of the European Parliament (MEP).

“I said that MEPs must understand that it is inappropriate to attend unregistered gatherings in our country as guests. That MEP is from Denmark—he wouldn’t be allowed to participate in such a gathering there. He wouldn’t break the law in his own country, so why do it in ours?” she stated.

When asked about the upcoming debate on the possible expulsion of the Serbian Progressive Party from the European People's Party, Brnabic said that communication between the two political groups is good, adding that she had several conversations in recent days and that there were no problems.

It had previously been announced that Brnabic would also meet with Gert Jan Koopman, Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, and with former EU ambassador to Serbia, Emanuele Giaufret, who now serves as Deputy Director for Europe and Central Asia in the European External Action Service.
