According to Lucic, Telekom Srbija has been making intensive investments in cybersecurity over the past year—not only to protect its own company, but also to develop solutions and expertise that can help other companies in the region defend themselves against the growing number of hacker and cyberattacks.
“Unfortunately, in today’s geopolitically unstable world, even states are engaging in hacker attacks against other states and investing in cyber-attack technologies. Companies that use the internet must consider how to protect themselves,” he said.
He added that all companies must be aware that in the coming years they are likely to become targets of attacks, which are increasingly easier to carry out with the help of artificial intelligence, and that such attacks can cause significant damage.
“This project has two components — one of them is educational, aimed at helping small and medium-sized enterprises first understand their current level of security, and then offering them the best solutions for protection,” Lucic emphasized.
Marko Cadez pointed out that technological revolutions bring both advantages and disadvantages, as innovations can also turn into threats — including cyberattacks that can harm businesses.
“Telekom Srbija has strategically invested in cybersecurity and has the expertise and specialists who can help. The first step is to identify our vulnerabilities, and that’s precisely the focus of this cooperation and agreement,” Cadez said.
He explained that there are several stages to the project. Each company, in cooperation with Telekom, will be able to assess its current cybersecurity status — identifying vulnerabilities, potential risks, and the possible costs of an attack.
“Once we assess and understand the situation, we’ll organize workshops and seminars — not only in Belgrade but also in 17 regional chambers across Serbia — to reach all companies, including those that may not even realize how vulnerable they are, before it’s too late,” Cadez concluded.
