The 68th International Belgrade Book Fair has officially opened and will run until November 2 at the Belgrade Fair grounds, under the slogan Your New Story. Visitors will be welcomed by more than 400 exhibitors from 15 countries.
From now until November 2, lovers of the written word will have the opportunity to attend various panels and enrich their personal libraries. However, not all of the originally planned exhibitors will be present at the Fair.
This year’s Fair is being held in the spirit of four major anniversaries: the 110th anniversary of the birth of Branko Copic, the 50th anniversary of the death of Ivo Andric, the 90th anniversary of the birth of Danilo Kis, and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Branko Radicevic. The event’s thematic programs are therefore designed around these commemorations.
Belgrade’s "Nikola Tesla" Airport hosted nearly 2.9 million passengers in the third quarter of this year, which is a 6.5% increase compared to the same period last year.
As energy security increasingly becomes synonymous with political stability, the question arises: how much does Serbia actually possess of its own “black gold”? And does the energy of the future lie beneath our land, or merely traces of once-abundant resources that are slowly being depleted?
The Fair will also address contemporary issues such as the influence of artificial intelligence on writing, and will feature content tailored for children.
The host and guest of honor this year is Cyprus, while Tunisia will take on that role next year.
Organizers have announced that on November 1, marking the anniversary of the collapse of the railway station canopy in Novi Sad - which claimed 16 lives - no scheduled events will be held inside the Fair’s halls.

Aleksandar Ivkovic, Assistant Director of the Belgrade Fair, noted that 16 exhibitors have canceled their participation.
The first Belgrade Book Fair was organized in 1957, one year after Zagreb hosted the first fair of this kind in the former shared state.
Since its founding in 1957, the Belgrade Book Fair has built an international reputation. Last year’s event set a record with over 200,000 visitors.
