SNS MP Ugljesa Mrdic Taken to Emergency Center, Dijana Hrka Continues Hunger Strike Despite Vucic’s Appeal

Dijana Hrka confirmed that she had spoken with Aleksandar Vucic, but will continue her hunger strike.

Mrdic has been on hunger strike together with five veterans who supported his demand that the competent prosecutor’s office arrest former Chairman of the Board of Shareholders of Serbian Railways Infrastructure Nebojsa Bojovic, and former Executive Director Milutin Milosevic, for their responsibility in the collapse of the canopy at the Novi Sad train station on November 1st  last year.

Mrdic received medical assistance on Sunday, and after an examination, he said that emergency medical staff had warned him that his vital parameters were not good, but he decided to remain in front of the National Assembly and continue his hunger strike until his demands are met.

Nevertheless, according to the news agency Tanjug, the SNS MP was transported to the Emergency Center. President Aleksandar Vucic had earlier expressed concern for the health of Ugljesa Mrdic and Dijana Hrka, saying that he had spoken with them by phone and urged them to end their hunger strike.

Dijana Hrka: "For Me, the Issue Is the Flash-Bang Attack"

Dijana Hrka, the mother of the young man who died in the collapse of the Novi Sad canopy, stated that she would not go to the president and emphasized that the focus should be on the flash-bang explosion directed toward her tent near the Serbian Parliament, where she has been on a hunger strike for nine days.

"I did speak with the president, but I don’t want to go into details. I’d rather focus on the flash-bang that was fired toward my tent this morning. The president said publicly that he had spoken with me, but he didn’t say anything about the fact that a flash-bang was thrown at me. I think it’s more important to talk about that than about the fact that I talked to the president," Hrka told FoNet regarding Vucic’s phone call.

President Aleksandar Vucic announced that on Monday he had called Dijana Hrka, asked her to end her hunger strike, and invited her to a meeting at the General Secretariat of the President of the Republic.

"I’m not the one who should go to anyone. No one is addressing the flash-bang incident, and he brought up the phone call with me just to cover up that explosion. Well, that won’t work. We’ll talk another day about what we discussed on the phone - today I’m focusing on the flash-bang that was thrown," Hrka said.

According to Hrka’s post on Instagram, the flash-bang was thrown at 6:40 a.m., and she shared photos showing smoke in the area of Pionirski Park.
