There were 18 candidates on the list, out of which nine are to be elected to the REM Council. According to the Law on Electronic Media, a candidate must receive a majority of votes from the total number of Members of Parliament to be elected to the Council.
For a two-year term, the following were elected as members of the REM Council: university candidate Milan Petkovic, Milos Garic as the representative of electronic media, and Stevica Smederevac as the candidate of the Protector of Citizens (Ombudsman), the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, and the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection.
For a four-year term, the members of the REM Council will be Ira Prodanov Krajisnik, candidate of associations of film, stage, and dramatic artists; Rodoljub Sabic, candidate of associations dealing with the protection of freedom of expression; and Mileva Malesic, candidate of journalists’ associations.
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic stated that the site of the General Staff Building is not being sold but will instead be leased for 99 years. He added that the investment in that location will amount to at least 650 million euros.

With this vote, the Assembly concluded the second session of the regular autumn sitting. Prior to the election of REM Council members, the Assembly adopted the Law on the Electoral Roll and the Law on Special Procedures for the Implementation of the Project for the Revitalization and Development of the Area in Belgrade Between Kneza Milosa, Masarikova, Birsaninova, and Resavska streets (lex specialis concerning the former General Staff building).
In addition, during the session that began on Tuesday, November 4, MPs also adopted the Law on Obligations and Basic Property-Legal Relations in Air Transport, amendments to the Law on Working Hours in Road Transport and Tachographs, and amendments to the Law on the Placing on the Market of Wood and Wood Products.
