RATEL gave 5D network licenses to Telekom, Yettel and A1 Serbia

After the auction, the Regulatory Body for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (RATEL) awarded licenses for the 5G network to three bidders, namely Telekom Srbija, Yettel and A1 Srbija, who will each pay slightly more than 100 million euros for the licenses, and a total of 300,099,430 euro

RATEL gave 5D network licenses to Telekom, Yettel and A1 Serbia

RATEL announced that the public tender for the issuance of individual licenses for the use of radio frequency spectrum in the radio frequency bands 694-790 MHz, 880-915/925-960 MHz, 1710-1785/1805-1880 MHz, 1920-1980/2110-2170 MHz, 2500-2690 MHz and 3400-3800 MHz.

From November 3 to 7, RATEL conducted a public bidding procedure, i.e. a spectrum auction for the provision of public electronic communication services for GSM and IMT (International Mobile Telecommunications) systems, on a technologically neutral basis, for the territory of Serbia, in the radio frequency bands 694-790 MHz, 880-915/925-960 MHz, 1710-1785/1805-1880 MHz, 1920-1980/2110-2170 MHz, 2500-2690 MHz and 3400-3800 MHz.

Three qualified bidders, namely Yettel, Telekom and A1 Srbija, participated in the procedure, and submitted correct bids in all stages of the spectrum auction.

Following the procedure, the RATEL Council made a decision on the selection of the most favorable offers, i.e. a decision determining the list of those who met the condition for the allocation of radio frequency spectrum.

Telekom Srbija received a license for radio frequency blocks 713-723(UL)/768-778(DL), 895-905(UL)/940-950(DL), 1735-1760(UL)/1830-1855(DL), 1935-1950(UL)/2125-2140(DL), 2500-2520(UL)/2620-2640(DL), 3670-3800(UL/DL), including the obligation to signal coverage of certain municipalities with currently unsatisfactory coverage characteristics, namely Krupanj, Osečina, Medveđa, Trgovište and Bosilegrad.

Telekom's obligation is to pay a fee of 100,050,530 euros for the license.

Yettel was licensed for radio frequency blocks 703-713(UL)/758-768(DL), 905-915(UL)/950-960(DL), 1710-1735(UL)/1805-1830(DL), 1965-1980(UL)/2155-2170(DL), 2540-2560(UL)/2660-2680(DL), 3540-3670(UL/DL), including the obligation to signal coverage of certain municipalities with currently unsatisfactory characterization of coverage, namely Ljubovija, Babušnica, Gadžin Han, Golubac and Svrljig.

Yettel will pay a fee of 100,028,170 euros.

A1 Serbia received a license for radio frequency blocks 723-733(UL)/778-788(DL), 885-895(UL)/930-940(DL), 1760-1785(UL)/1855-1880(DL), 1950-1965(UL)/2140-2155(DL), 2520-2540(UL)/2640-2660(DL), 3410-3540(UL/DL), including the obligation to signal coverage of certain municipalities with currently unsatisfactory coverage characteristics, namely Kosjerić, Crna Trava, Kučevo, Majdanpek and Boljevac.

This company is obliged to pay 100,020,730 euros for the license.

The mentioned operators are, as stated, obliged to pay the first half of the fee for the right to use the assigned radio frequency spectrum within 15 days from the date of delivery of the decision on the selection of the most favorable offers, and the second half by June 30, 2026 at the latest.

The total revenue from the sale of radio frequency spectrum amounts to 300,099,430 euros.

Ratel, after providing proof of payment of the first half of the fee, will issue individual licenses for the use of the radio frequency spectrum no later than seven days from the date of expiry of the deadline for the specified payment, it is stated in the statement and adds that after the issuance of individual licenses for the use of the radio frequency spectrum in the relevant bands, which is expected in the first week of December, the condition will be met for all three operators to start providing commercial services using 5G technology.
