Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad: We expect a public trial for the fall of the canopy
The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad recalled that on September 16th , it brought charges against 13 defendants in connection with the fall of the canopy of the Railway Station in Novi Sad on November 1 last year, when 16 people were killed.
The indictment was brought against thirteen defendants due to reasonable suspicion that they have committed criminal acts that are legally qualified as serious acts against general security, the prosecutor's office announced.
The Prosecution states that it still expects that the indictment will enter into legal force as soon as possible for all the accused, which would enable a public trial for all accused persons.
"The prosecution once again expresses its position on the necessity of a public trial, where the evidence collected by the public prosecution in the investigation, as well as the evidence of the defense, would be presented in the presence of the public at the main trial, in order to determine the criminal responsibility of the accused", the prosecution emphasized.
