In the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic, Vasiljevic emphasized that public order in the country has been maintained despite an increase in unreported public assemblies.
According to Vasiljevic, overall crime in Serbia has decreased by around five percent, while the clearance rate for criminal offenses committed by unknown perpetrators has risen to 61.6 percent.
President Aleksandar Vucic stated at the opening of the Italian company Ariston’s factory in Nis that around 300 workers will be employed there and that serial production will begin in April.
Serbia is committed to its strategic goal - EU membership - and remains a reliable and responsible partner of the EU, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said after attending a dinner in Brussels organized by Ursula von der Leyen together with António Costa.
General crime dropped by 5 percent, with a significant decline in crimes against life and bodily integrity and crimes against property. All aggravated murders committed during the year were solved, the Ministry of the Interior reported following the meeting.
Vasiljevic noted that 2025 was marked by a rise in unreported gatherings, which, he said, required significant resources from the Police Directorate.
"From the tragic event on November 1 last year in Novi Sad until November 30, 2025, a total of 27,327 unreported public assemblies were held in Serbia, while more than 302,554 police officers were deployed to secure them", Vasiljevic stated.
During the stated period, 2,982 persons were processed.
"Of these, 579 faced criminal charges and 2,403 were charged with misdemeanors, while 962 reports were submitted to competent prosecutor’s offices for 885 individuals. A total of 1,398 persons were brought in, and detention measures were applied to 569 of them", the police director said.
Fight against crime and drug seizures
He highlighted in particular the results in combating organized crime and narcotics. Over the year, 21 organized criminal groups were prosecuted, 153 people were arrested, and more than six tons of drugs were seized, including marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and amphetamines.
A total of 130 laboratories for drug production were uncovered.
In the area of economic crime, 3,382 criminal offenses were detected, while anti-corruption efforts resulted in 391 criminal reports filed against 939 individuals. Additionally, more than 1,150 high-tech criminal offenses and more than 900 environmental crimes were recorded.
Traffic safety
Traffic safety has improved: 30,296 traffic accidents were recorded, with 454 fatalities - 20 fewer than last year.
It was particularly emphasized that no children were killed in school zones.
The situation at the borders is stable, and irregular migration remains under control.
The meeting also adopted the Strategic Public Safety Assessment for the 2026-2029 period, prepared with the support of the Swedish police, which will serve as the basis for future strategic documents of the Ministry of the Interior.
