"A year and a half ago we were here and there was nothing. I’m happy that hiring and training are now beginning. There needs to be a trial period of two or three months, and then in April serial production will start. So, this is a good thing for Nis. It’s always nice to attend a cornerstone laying ceremony when nothing is there, and then later you see a large hall", Vucic said.
He pointed out that employing around 300 workers is of great value for Serbia, especially after Benetton left, and added that some people from that factory will be retrained.
"For 525 out of 960 people we have already found jobs. Some people were not sought after by them - they wanted to take compensation. And we will take part of the people from Leoni and transfer them, retrain them into mechatronics technicians. They need mechatronics technicians, but everyone else needs them too. So that’s what we’re doing. This is a big deal for them; they are producing these cylinders for heaters used by several different companies. And I believe they will grow here", Vucic said.
The company Ariston is engaged in the production of cylinders, tanks, and heat pumps. The factory is located in the “Sever 2” industrial zone, and the cornerstone was laid in July last year.
The company built a 30,000 square meter hall and invested 75 million euros in the construction of the factory, while the City of Nis and the Republic have so far invested around 8.2 million euros in the industrial zone.
According to the announcement, a total investment of 13.6 million euros is planned.
