"This means that conditions have been met for aircraft to land with horizontal runway visibility of up to 50 meters and vertical visibility of only 15 meters", representatives of Belgrade Airport told Tanjug.

It was also noted that all operational services at Nikola Tesla Airport are continuously engaged to ensure that air traffic proceeds safely and securely, while providing efficient service and comfort to passengers during their stay at the airport, given that certain flight delays are occurring.

In response to questions about whether airlines will land or take off in conditions of reduced visibility, airport officials stated that, in addition to the airport’s category, it is important whether aircraft are equipped with adequate onboard equipment to receive ground signals, whether pilots hold the appropriate certifications for landing and takeoff in such conditions, and what procedures are prescribed by the airlines.

"Ultimately, it depends on the pilot’s decision - whether to land in Belgrade under conditions of reduced visibility, divert the flight to the nearest airport, or even whether to depart for Belgrade at all", officials from Belgrade Airport said.
