The statement also advises Serbian citizens who are planning to travel to Iran to refrain from doing so until the security situation stabilizes.

Anti-government protests in Iran have been ongoing for nearly three weeks, during which time several thousand people have been killed.

The protests, which have lasted for almost three weeks, have spread to around 180 cities and towns across all 31 Iranian provinces.

They began in late December over economic problems and later escalated into demands for political change.

The demonstrations intensified last Thursday, when authorities responded with lethal force and shut down communication networks.

The U.S.-based human rights group HRANA reported that it has so far confirmed the deaths of 2,571 people during the protests in Iran, including 2,403 demonstrators, 147 individuals linked to the government, 12 minors, and nine civilians who did not take part in the protests.
