Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic defeated Italy’s Francesco Maestrelli 3–0, with set scores of 6–3, 6–2, 6–2, to advance to the third round of the Australian Open.
The match lasted two hours and 15 minutes, and the victory marked Djokovic’s 101st win at the Australian Open overall.
“I didn’t know much about my opponent until a few days ago. That happens to me more and more often, but the respect is always there. I never underestimate anyone. He has a strong serve, he’s aggressive, he lacks experience on the big stage, but he can move up the rankings,” said the world No. 4.
Serbian Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali and Nikhil Goel, Chief Commercial Officer of Archer Aviation, signed a Partnership Agreement in Davos that will serve as the framework for cooperation between the Government of Serbia and the company in introducing electric air taxi services in Serbia.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali stated that he expects the Hungarian company MOL to officially take over the Oil Industry of Serbia (NIS) by mid-March.
During the match, Djokovic also executed a behind-the-back shot, which the organizers replayed on the screen during his post-match interview.
“There has to be some variation. I worked on this a lot during my preparations, so I’m glad it worked,” he joked, before adding:
“I’m glad I didn’t embarrass myself. It went over the net, but there are many players who do it better than I do, including the tweener. The last time I tried a between-the-legs shot, I nearly injured myself.”
Djokovic, who has won 24 Grand Slam titles so far, will face the winner of the Van de Zandschulp - Shang match in the third round.
