Alongside the young goalkeeper, Dusan Mandic and Strahinja Rasovic were also named to the All-Star Team.

After the final, MVP Dusan Mandic emphasized that his team had fully earned the European title.

"It doesn’t get any better, hardly better than this. It’s extremely difficult to beat a top-level team twice. I’m incredibly proud; I’ve never experienced anything like this. Congratulations to my teammates, congratulations to the Hungarian team, full credit to them. Tonight, in front of a packed Belgrade Arena, we were the better team", Mandic told RTS after the match.

Serbia played the final against Hungary without Milos Cuk, who missed the European Championship final due to a virus.

With this victory, Serbia claimed its first European title in eight years and the ninth overall in the history of the European Championships.

Earlier in the day, the Greek national team won the bronze medal after defeating Italy 12-5 (4-1, 3-1, 3-2, 2-1) in the third-place match.
