Serbia and the United Arab Emirates Sign Agreement on Exchange of Experience and Modernization of the Two Governments
The Secretary General of the Government of Serbia, Petar Janjic, and the Minister and Secretary General of the Government of the United Arab Emirates, Mariam Al Hammadi, signed an Agreement between Serbia and the UAE on the exchange ofexperience and the modernization of the two governments.
By signing this agreement at the World Government Summit (WGS) the strategic partnership between the two countries is continued and further deepened, with a clear focus on strengthening the capacities of a modern, digital, and innovative public administration.
According to the government’s statement, the goal of the agreement is to establish institutionalized cooperation in areas of key importance for Serbia’s long-term development and its transformation toward an economy based on knowledge, innovation, and digital technologies.
Cooperation will focus on digital government and the digital transformation of the public sector, the digital economy and the development of innovative services, artificial intelligence and the application of advanced technologies, science, innovation and research and development programs, education and the development of digital skills, business incubators and the development of the startup ecosystem, creative industries and tourism, as well as other areas of mutual interest that the parties may determine at a later stage.
President Aleksandar Vucic stated that Serbia could begin producing such robots this year as the first country in Europe, with plans to build a total of 50 factories between 2026 and 2030.
After a seven-month delay, the European Commission (EC) has decided to transfer the first tranche of funds to Serbia under the Growth Plan, amounting to €57 million, related to reforms implemented in the second half of 2024, Tanjug has learned.
The agreement is of particular importance for Serbia as it enables access to knowledge and best practices of one of the most technologically advanced and agile governments in the world, especially in the fields of e-government and artificial intelligence.
The agreement also contributes to accelerating public administration reform, improving the quality of public services and the efficiency of state institutions, strengthening the innovation and startup ecosystem, and further positioning Serbia as a regional leader in digital transformation, innovation, and creative industries.
