Vucic: We Must Not Miss the AI Revolution, We Will Protect Children from Social Media Without Censorship
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, stated in New Delhi, where he is participating in the Artificial Intelligence Summit, that Serbia must build infrastructure for greater use of AI, as well as reform its education system.
"Many young Indians came to our standm and we explained to them what we have and what we offer in our country. We must continue building infrastructure because artificial intelligence requires computers, computers require electricity, and we will have to address all these key issues, as well as develop data centers", Vucic told journalists after visiting Serbia’s stand.
He emphasized that the country must also focus on changing the education system and increasing funding for education.
Prime Minister of Serbia, Prof. Dr. Djuro Macut, stated in Athens that Serbia remains committed to strengthening its strategic partnership with Greece and enhancing regional stability.
President Aleksandar Vucic stated that cooperation between Serbia and Azerbaijan is growing in all spheres of social life, adding that he discussed economic cooperation with Ilham Aliyev and that, compared to 2012, trade exchange between the two countries has increased sixteenfold.
"We will also have to invest more in those sectors of the economy and education, and even in our culture and military, where examples of artificial intelligence will become particularly prominent. Here you could see at the French stand how decisions about which target to strike are made 15 times faster than they would be made conventionally today", Vucic said.
Vucic stressed that the state will try to protect children without resorting to any form of censorship, following announcements that Greece, Spain, and France will pass laws banning the use of social media for children under 15.
"The issue of protecting children is one of the key ones, even if it comes after some elections, so that no one would suspect bad intentions. It is more important to save one child’s life than anything else we do", he explained.
"We Must Not Miss the AI Revolution"
Vucic emphasized that developing infrastructure is crucial because, as he said, those who fall behind will lose sovereignty and independence and will have nothing of their own.
"They will only have access to computers via the cloud. In other words, they will have nothing of their own. That is the modern way in which you lose data about your citizens and everything else. These are the challenges we face. In competition with major technological powers, your chances are almost nonexistent, which is why you must work urgently on infrastructure development, even if you are a small country. That is why we need additional data centers, additional supercomputers. That is why we need to secure electricity supplies and establish new universities", Vucic said.
According to him, society must also adapt to innovation because Serbia must not miss this new revolution, as it missed the first one and needed time to catch up.
"When we missed the first industrial revolution, we lost a great deal. We never fully caught up; we were always lagging behind. Just when we began to close the gap, we had to enter a new revolution and compete with everyone" the Serbian president assessed.
He emphasized that a great deal of money, knowledge, and changes in mindset and lifestyle will be needed to understand what is happening in the world.

"India has succeeded in one thing. If you watched Indian channels, they were interesting, people talk about AI all day, who will lose and who will gain, because people in parts of the IT sector and software industry have started losing their jobs. They are discussing how much it helps them, how much it harms them, and how much it helps in agriculture or other sectors", Vucic said.
President Vucic attended the opening of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi on behalf of Serbia, alongside numerous world leaders, at one of the most important global gatherings dedicated to artificial intelligence.
The summit in New Delhi brought together representatives from more than 45 countries, including Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, French President Emmanuel Macron, Brazilian leader Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, as well as a delegation from the United States and executives of leading technology companies.
The event is dedicated to examining the future of artificial intelligence through the lens of inclusion, responsibility, and measurable impact, reflecting India’s ambition to help shape global norms in this field.
