President of Azerbaijan Visits Serbia: Trade Exchange Between the Two Countries 16 Times Higher Than in 2012

President Aleksandar Vucic stated that cooperation between Serbia and Azerbaijan is growing in all spheres of social life, adding that he discussed economic cooperation with Ilham Aliyev and that, compared to 2012, trade exchange between the two countries has increased sixteenfold.

"Not 16 percent - you heard me correctly - 16 times higher than it was. Through strategic cooperation councils, we are also establishing new relations, the closest possible relations with Azerbaijan, and I believe this is of exceptional importance for the Republic of Serbia and its citizens", Vucic said at a joint press conference with Aliyev, who is on an official visit to Serbia.
As he noted, cooperation between the two countries in various spheres of social life can and must become even more significant and extensive.
U.S. Congressman Pat Harrigan, speaking to Newsmax Balkans on the occasion of Serbia’s Statehood Day, said that relations between Serbia and the United States hold significant potential for further development, particularly in the fields of economic cooperation, technology, and regional stability.
The President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, met at the Presidential Palace in Ankara with the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
He expressed confidence that with greater effort and a more diligent approach on the Serbian side, even better results will be achieved in the future.
"We have signed 57 documents so far. Today we signed another ten documents, which must serve as a solid foundation for improving our relations in all areas of society", he said.
Vucic added that they discussed participation in the Investment Forum to be held in September in Azerbaijan and noted that he would visit Azerbaijan beforehand.
Aliyev: I Feel at Home in Serbia
Aliyev said that he might visit Serbia again this year, adding that he has visited multiple times and can personally witness its progress and development under the leadership of President Aleksandar Vucic. He emphasized that he feels at home in Serbia and invited President Vucic to visit Azerbaijan.
"I invite President Vucic and the Serbian delegation to visit Azerbaijan, and I am confident that this year alone we will have several opportunities to exchange visits. I may visit Serbia again this year because we truly feel at home here" Aliyev said.

He also expressed expectations that the current visit to Serbia would yield excellent outcomes and added that results would be visible very soon.
"I have visited Serbia many times and, under President Vucic’s leadership, I can see firsthand the progress and development of Serbia. For that reason, I sincerely congratulate my Serbian friends and support the slogan ‘Long live Azerbaijan, long live Serbia, long live the friendship between Serbia and Azerbaijan", Aliyev said.
Ceremonial Welcome and Honor Guard
Aliyev, who arrived in Belgrade with his wife, was welcomed with a red carpet and an honor guard, and the two presidents greeted each other warmly.
The official welcoming ceremony was held in front of the Palata Srbija, after which the two presidents held a meeting, followed by the first session of the Strategic Partnership Council between Serbia and Azerbaijan.

In addition to Vucic, Aliyev was welcomed in front of the Palace of Serbia by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarovic, as well as ministers Zoran Gajic, Aleksandra Sofronijevic, Dragan Glamocic, Bratislav Gasic, Marko Djuric, Nikola Selakovic, Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic, Nenad Popovic, and Boris Bratina.
During the visit, bilateral documents will be signed, and Presidents Vucic and Aliyev will address the media at a joint press conference.
