Vucic: As soon as the airspace opens, an Air Serbia plane will fly to Abu Dhabi and Dubai
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, stated that the government will send Air Serbia planes to bring back Serbian citizens from the Middle East who wish to evacuate, as soon as the airspace in that region opens for civilian flights.
"The very second the airspace opens, for anyone who wants to return to our country, we will spend a huge amount of money and bring those people back. We care about every person, but you must be rational. You must act responsibly and understand the rules that exist", Vucic told TV Prva.
According to him, this applies to the United Arab Emirates, Manama, Doha, Kuwait, Qatar, and all other Gulf countries, but he pointed out that most Serbian citizens are in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
"As for Serbian citizens in the Emirates, together with many European countries we are monitoring the situation and now let me explain how things really stand. The airspace is closed, and when the airspace is closed it is impossible to send your planes", Vucic emphasized.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric has called on Serbian citizens who find themselves in the broader region of hostilities in the Middle East to follow the instructions of local public authorities, as well as the recommendations issued by Serbian embassies, in order to ensure their safety.
The health condition of Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Dacic remains unchanged. We have been given the opportunity to conduct additional diagnostic tests following the stabilization of his condition, stated Spasoje Popevic, Assistant Director of the Pulmonology Clinic.
He added that he had previously warned about the situation in the Middle East and even predicted the exact day of the attack.
"I said it would be between Friday and Saturday. They always do it because they expect to finish the job in a day or two and then recover by Monday. Of course, as always, nobody listened, everyone thinks they know better than me, and now we have a problem with everything that is happening. The Emirates were brutally attacked without guilt, because the excuse that there is an American base on that territory doesn’t mean anything in terms of attacking civilian structures in Dubai", Vučić said.
"Serbian Embassy in Tehran damaged by shrapnel"
Vucic stated that the staff of the Serbian Embassy in Iran is on its way to Baku.
"Our staff (from the embassy) is on the way to Baku. This morning you heard, some people lectured us, saying: take us to Oman by car or bus, then organize planes for us, go around via the Indian Ocean, don’t cross the Gulf, get to Oman and then extract us to Serbia that way", Vucic told TV Una, adding that during the morning there was an attack on Oman.
