The Chair of the Board of Directors of the British Chamber of Commerce, Sarah Howard, stated that the Western Balkans region is experiencing dynamic growth. She announced that the United Kingdom will invest £50 billion in the Western Balkans.
"A total of £50 billion will be invested in the region through UK Export Finance. We will promote sustainable development and resilience," Howard said at the UK-Western Balkans Trade Conference.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić emphasized that Serbia seeks much greater cooperation with the United Kingdom and British companies, underlining that the UK is a very important political partner.
"In increasing trade, the level of services, tourism, and all forms of social activities, we desire better and closer relations with the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom, Great Britain, is the sixth-largest economic power in the world and one of the most significant global political powers—a critically important partner for us. And somehow, we ourselves have often underestimated the UK, which has been a major mistake," Vučić stressed.
The British Ambassador to Serbia, Edward Ferguson, stated that now is the right time to strengthen trade ties between the UK and the Western Balkans, noting the steady growth of trade with the region over the past decade.
The conference, held at the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, brought together more than 220 participants. It provided an opportunity for representatives from six chambers of commerce from the Western Balkans, united under the Chamber Investment Forum, to showcase the region’s collective potential to the UK trade delegation.
