Israel's Ambassador to Newsmax Balkans: The War in Gaza Will Not End Until Hamas Returns the Hostages
Israel’s Ambassador to Serbia, Avivit Bar-Ilan, said in an interview with Newsmax Balkans that the war in Gaza will not end until Hamas returns the 101 Israeli hostages, kidnapped in southern Israel in October of last year.
The Ambassador reminded of United Nations Resolution 1701, which, as she pointed out, has not been implemented according to the terms written in the resolution’s text.
"Until now, the implementation and enforcement of this resolution have not been as they should have been. We are very grateful for the international engagement in enforcing this agreement, and there is a mechanism led by the Americans that oversees its implementation. And of course, we are very grateful to UNIFIL and the countries contributing to the enforcement and implementation of this resolution, including the Serbian forces," said the Ambassador.
She also reminded that Israel does not recognize the terrorist organization Hezbollah and that the international community has the opportunity to free the Lebanese people from this military group.
When asked if a similar scenario for a diplomatic ceasefire with Hamas is possible, the Ambassador pointed to the hostages still held in Gaza.
"101 Israeli hostages are still being held in Gaza. Among them is an Israeli of Serbian descent. His name is Alon Oel, and his parents are visiting Serbia these days. Of course, there must be the elimination of all Hamas's capabilities in Gaza. Without that, unfortunately, there will be no end to the war in Gaza," emphasized the Ambassador.

The Ambassador of Israel also stated that their government will file a complaint with the International Criminal Court regarding the indictment against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant.
"We see this move as political, as one that is used by terrorist organizations like Hamas and those terrorists trying to eliminate the State of Israel. There is no comparison between the Israeli government, a democratically elected government, and a terrorist organization like Hamas," added Bar-Ilan.
The Ambassador emphasized that accepting Israel as a democratic state in the region is essential to maintaining peace with neighboring countries.
