Georgia has officially confirmed its participation in the Specialized Exhibition EXPO 2027 Belgrade, which will take place from May 15 to August 15, 2027, under the theme "Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All".
Located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, Georgia first participated in a world expo at EXPO 2000 in Hanover and became a member of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) in 2008. Its presence in Belgrade will also be symbolic, marking 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Georgia - relations that are, as noted, based on cultural, religious, and historical ties.
"We were delighted to receive confirmation of Georgia’s participation, as we know we are welcoming friends who will surely offer a memorable interpretation of the expo's main theme. The number of registered countries is steadily increasing, and we are nearing our goal of 120 participants", said Dusan Borovcanin, Director of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali opened the investment conference “Investment Conference – Expo Osaka 2025” in Osaka, inviting Japanese companies to come to Serbia, describing it as “a country that serves as a bridge between East and West".
Borovcanin thanked Georgia for its trust and called on other countries that have not yet done so to join this global event, which is expected to attract more than four million visitors from Serbia, the region, and around the world.
At EXPO 2027 Belgrade, Georgia will showcase its rich cultural identity through traditional games, dances, and sports. Highlights include lelo burti, a vigorous game similar to rugby, and chidaoba, a traditional form of wrestling recognized by UNESCO.
In the realm of music and dance, visitors will have the opportunity to witness performances of Georgian dances such as kartuli, khorumi, and osuri, which range from romantic rituals to expressions of warrior spirit.
