As part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of A. N. on May 12, and acting on the orders of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, members of the Criminal Police Directorate, the Crime Suppression Service, and the Service for Combating Organized Crime of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested Veselin Milic, head of the Belgrade Police Department.

"V. M. has been placed in detention for up to 48 hours on suspicion of committing the criminal offenses of failure to report a criminal offense and its perpetrator and assisting an offender after the commission of a criminal offense. Within that period, he will be brought in for questioning before the acting public prosecutor",  the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade announced.

The Prosecutor’s Office had previously announced that it had received information from the Criminal Police Directorate stating that J. M. had reported the disappearance of her common-law husband, A. N.

By order of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office, police also arrested three police officers on suspicion of committing the criminal offenses of assisting an offender after the commission of a criminal offense and failure to report a criminal offense and its perpetrator, in connection with the reported disappearance of A. N.

Authorities also detained N. L. (50), the owner of a restaurant/bar in the Senjak neighborhood where A. N. was last seen, as well as a waiter employed at the establishment, S. V.

The suspects have been placed in detention for up to 48 hours, during which they will be brought before the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade for questioning.
