Serbian President Announces the Publication of Documents Related to the Reconstruction of Novi Sad Railway Station
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced that all 195 documents related to the reconstruction of the Novi Sad Railway Station will be made public on Thursday.
"As the President of Serbia, I requested all documentation from the Ministry of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure, as well as from Railways Infrastructure and all other relevant entities. I decided to make this documentation public, providing it for review, and to hand it over to the students, just as they requested," Vucic said.
He noted that he always knew there was nothing being hidden and that this was merely "a lie within the framework of a hybrid war, used and abused in the dirtiest way possible—nothing more than that."
The Mayor of Novi Sad, Milan Djuric, stated on the show "Otvori oci" that the opposition's request for him to resign is "exclusively politically motivated," emphasizing that the City has no connection to the tragedy that occurred at the Railway Station.
Regarding the release of citizens detained during protests following the collapse of the site, the president promised to "personally grant pardons if they are convicted."
Vucic added that he expects students who submitted demands to acknowledge that their requests have been met and to return to classes.
"Do we really expect that? What do you think? Of course not. But it will be completely clear to the entire Serbian public and to all students who want to learn what this is about – that there were never any real demands, only pure and simple politics," the president concluded.
Members of the "Bridge Stays" Initiative, citizens opposing the dismantling of the Old Sava Bridge, and students from faculties under blockade gathered and made noise in protest outside the Serbian Presidency building during President Vucic’s public address.
