However, he emphasized that the United States is concerned because NIS is the only refinery in Serbia and is majority-owned by Russian entities.
"Russia continues its war against Ukraine, which is barbaric, especially in the 21st century, yet it persists. There are concerns that NIS, under Russian control, might financially support Moscow in its war in Ukraine. This warrants consideration," Hill told Radio Television Serbia.
According to Hill, any final decision regarding NIS will not negatively affect Serbia’s economy. "Serbia’s economy is experiencing growth, and we are committed to supporting its continuation," Hill stated.
Commenting on the upcoming EXPO 2027 World Exhibition, Ambassador Hill revealed that the United States has pledged funds to establish a significant pavilion at the event. "For Serbia, this is a historic moment, and we are eager to participate," Hill added.
