Serbian Defense Industry at IDEX 2025 in Abu Dhabi
A delegation from the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Army, invited by the Ministry of Defense of the United Arab Emirates, visited the 17th International Defense Exhibition IDEX 2025 in Abu Dhabi.
Assistant Minister of Defense for Materiel Resources, Dr. Nenad Miloradovic, and Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Tiosav Jankovic, led the delegation from the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Army. Representatives from the Military Technical Institute and numerous companies from the Serbian Defense Industry Group were also present. According to the Ministry of Defense, IDEX 2025 hosted 1,560 exhibitors from 65 countries, with more than 150,000 visitors, which is a 15% increase compared to the previous event in 2023, making it one of the largest and most internationally significant exhibitions of this type in the world.
On the first day of the exhibition, the Serbian manufacturers' booth was visited by the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who praised the progress of the Serbian defense industry and positively assessed the development of current and future joint cooperation projects.
Several dozen projects were proposed, and an analysis of their feasibility immediately began by the relevant services of the UAE Armed Forces.
Miloradovic also met with UAE Minister of Defense Mohamed Mubarak Fadhel Al Mazrouei, where new projects for joint development and production of weapons and military equipment were presented, along with a summary of the results of joint investment plans in production technologies and the expansion of production in Serbia, as well as the transfer of defense technologies for production in the UAE.
Meetings were also held with representatives of the host country's armed forces, including Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Ahmed Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, and the commander of the UAE Special Forces, Brigadier General Mohamed Al Makbali. A meeting was also held with the CEO of EDGE Corporation, Hamad Al Marar, where the industrial cooperation plan was discussed.
The visit to the exhibition also provided an opportunity for meetings with officials from other partner countries with which the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Defense have developed bilateral relations, as stated in the announcement.
This year, the Serbian defense industry exhibition space attracted significant interest from visitors and numerous officials, and new contracts were concluded and several activities for inter-industrial and commercial cooperation for the coming period were agreed upon.
Additionally, a series of expert discussions and presentations with representatives of world-renowned companies were held, focusing on current and future collaboration projects in research, development, and production of weapons and military equipment, all aimed at equipping the Serbian Army with modern weaponry and military equipment.
