According to the statement, on Wednesday, March 26, the Court of BiH received a proposal from the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH to issue an international arrest warrant for Dodik and Stevandic.
"The basis for issuing the warrant, as outlined in the proposal – which was accepted – was reasonably derived from the evident actions undertaken by the suspects, Dodik and Stevandic. By leveraging their high-ranking positions in the entity of the Republic of Srpska, they bypassed legally prescribed border control procedures, crossed the state border, and left Bosnia and Herzegovina," the statement said.
The Court of BiH further stated that it is known that Dodik is currently in Israel, while Stevandic, "having evaded legally prescribed controls, even returned to BiH on March 18."
"All of this suggests the likelihood that they may be abroad at any given moment, which serves as a basis for action in accordance with Article 446, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH, and the issuance of an order for an international arrest warrant, which the Court has now issued," the statement continued.
The Court emphasized that issuing the warrant falls under the jurisdiction of Interpol.
The Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH, which cooperates with Interpol, responded to an inquiry from Newsmax Balkans, stating that it is unable to comment or provide information on international arrest warrant cases in accordance with Interpol’s Data Processing Regulations. Additionally, all information exchanged through Interpol channels is intended strictly for official, police, and judicial use.
On Tuesday, Dodik traveled to Israel, where he is scheduled to participate in an International Conference on Anti-Semitism in Jerusalem over two days.
Previously, the Court of BiH issued a central arrest warrant for Dodik, Stevandic, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Radovan Viskovic. They are suspected of the criminal offense of attacking the constitutional order and failed to respond to summonses for questioning at the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.
Dodik was sentenced in a first-instance ruling by the Court of BiH to one year in prison and was barred from holding the office of President of the Republic of Srpska for six years.
