The Higher Court in Novi Sad has returned the indictment for further investigation, which was filed against 13 individuals in connection with the collapse of the canopy at the city’s railway station on November 1st of last year, an incident that resulted in the deaths of 16 people.
"The pretrial panel decided that further clarification is needed in order to examine the validity of the indictment," said Sanja Cetojevic, spokesperson for the Higher Court in Novi Sad. The court has ordered the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad to issue an order for additional investigation within three days of receiving a copy of the court’s decision, specifying the circumstances that require further clarification.
According to Cetojevic, the court's decision, which includes a detailed explanation of all the reasons why the panel deemed it necessary to supplement the investigation, was sent today to the competent prosecutor's office, all the defendants, and their legal representatives.
The 18-year-old who was seriously injured in the canopy collapse at the Novi Sad Railway Station on November 1st has died at the Military Medical Academy (VMA).

There is no right of appeal against this order for the parties or other participants in the proceedings.
“At this moment, the case is returning to the investigation phase, for the purpose of better clarification so that the validity of the indictment can be assessed,” Cetojevic emphasized.
