President Vucic at the Summit in Tirana: Serbia Can Achieve Much and Make Further Progress on Its European Path

When asked whether Europe will finally be consistent regarding the enlargement of the Western Balkans, Vucic told reporters upon his arrival at the 6th Summit of the European Political Community that it seems to him there is a genuine will.

Vucic recalled that 2022 saw significant momentum in European integration and assessed that this process could now move even faster and stronger, because, as he said, it has become clear that the way we used to perceive the collective West no longer exists in the same form.

"Last night we had an important meeting with Antonio Costa, Ursula von der Leyen, and Donald Tusk, which was excellent, and I am endlessly grateful to him for the vision he offered for the Western Balkans and the way he treated Serbia, and also to Kaja Kallas," Vucic said.

He noted that the meeting included European officials and representatives from the Western Balkans.

"It lasted nearly three hours, and I am grateful to everyone for a constructive discussion. I believe there is a real opportunity to accomplish certain goals and to once again awaken hope in Serbia for a European future. I think the conversation with European leaders was very rational and fair," Vucic stated.

The sixth EPC Summit will bring together today in Tirana leaders from across Europe – the 27 EU member states and 20 non-member countries. This will be the first time a Western Balkan country hosts the Summit, and the theme of the meeting is "A New Europe in a New World: Unity – Cooperation – Joint Action."
