Also, Serbian delegation presented a plan to de-escalate the situation in northern Kosovo and Metohija.

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, stated that during the tripartite meeting in Brussels with representatives from Pristina and under the mediation of the European Union, the Belgrade delegation insisted on the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO) and presented a plan to de-escalate the situation in northern Kosovo and Metohija.

Speaking to reporters after the meetings, Petkovic said the talks were difficult and intense, and that he emphasized the need for normalization of relations, which must begin with de-escalation and the formation of the ZSO.

"I also spoke about Albin Kurti's repression of Serbs, especially in the north, and we again submitted a list of the latest escalatory actions. I discussed arrests, the persecution of Serb representatives, particularly those from the Serbian List, and other issues such as missing persons. I confirmed our participation in the Geneva meeting on June 26 of the working group on missing persons," said Petkovic.

According to him, other topics of discussion included MTS (Telekom Serbia’s subsidiary) and energy issues, both of which have encountered problems. He also requested that the liaison officer be allowed to visit Serbs imprisoned in Pristina.

"But the most important thing is that the ZSO must be formed and that the dialogue on the ZSO Statute must resume. That process has been stalled for a year and a half. Pristina has refused to continue talks on that matter," he said.

He stressed that the Belgrade delegation presented a de-escalation plan during the meeting.

He added that it was agreed for talks to continue at a technical level in early July, led by chief negotiators, and that in the meantime, the EU Special Representative for Dialogue, Peter Sørensen, will visit both Belgrade and Pristina with his team.
