"As long as I am prime minister, the Serbian government will not join the sanctions imposed against Russia," Macut said in an interview with TASS.

He also said that Serbia maintains an interest in rapprochement with BRICS, and that the development of relations with association members is a strategic priority for the republic.

"We consistently stand for the need to deepen cooperation with our traditional partners and friends. The BRICS countries are the most important players on the world stage and developing strong mutually beneficial relations with them is of strategic interest to us," the Prime Minister noted.

Macut explained that at the same time, Serbia "continues its path towards EU membership".
