Celebrated Hollywood actor, director, and Academy Award winner Mel Gibson has arrived at Mount Athos, where he will spend several days at the Hilandar Monastery.

His arrival drew significant attention, and it is known that during his visit he met with the monastery's abbot, Archimandrite Methodius.
Gibson, who rose to fame with roles in films such as Mad Max and Lethal Weapon, later turned to directing and achieved great success with the films Braveheart, Apocalypto, and The Passion of the Christ.
