The latest ranking of the most powerful passports in the world: Serbia in the 34th place, Singapore number one

According to the biannual "Henley Passport" ranking that was published on Tuesday, the position that Serbia took on the list of this index in January was confirmed.

Compared to last year, the Serbian passport rose by three places in January, that is, from 37th to 34th place, which, since the positioning of passports has been measured since 2006, represents the highest place so far, and this position has been confirmed in the new ranking list.

According to the same index, Bosnia and Herzegovina occupies the 42nd position, North Macedonia is in the 38th place, and Montenegro is in the 40th position, while Croatia and Slovenia share the ninth place.

Singaporeans still hold the most powerful passports in the world, with visa-free access to 193 destinations out of a total of 227.

Japan and South Korea are in second place, with access to 190 destinations, while third place is shared by seven members of the European Union - Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Spain, with 189 destinations each.

Great Britain and the United States of America, which were previously among the countries with the most powerful passports in the world (Great Britain in 2015 and the USA in 2014), have seen a decline and are now in sixth and tenth places, respectively.

The British passport allows access to 186 countries, while the American passport is valid for 182 destinations.

At the bottom of the list is Afghanistan, in 99th place, whose citizens can travel without a visa to only 25 destinations.

They are followed by Syria in 98th position with 27 destinations and Iraq in 97th place with access to 30 countries.

The "Henley passport" index is published by the Henley & Partners consulting company, which deals with consulting in the field of citizenship and residence rights.

The ranking is compiled twice a year, in January and July, and uses exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), tracking the number of destinations that passport holders can visit without a visa.
