The Petroleum Industry of Serbia Requests New Sanctions Delay from the U.S. Department of the Treasury
The Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS) has submitted a request to the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury for a new postponement of sanctions.
At the end of July, the U.S. Department of the Treasury issued a new special license that delayed the full implementation of sanctions against NIS, allowing the company to continue its operational activities without interruption until August 27.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury has postponed sanctions against Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) for another month, Radio Television of Serbia has confirmed.
The tariffs imposed by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, went into effect on August 7, affecting more than 70 countries. As previously announced, the tariff rate for Serbia will be 35%.
So far, the U.S. administration has extended NIS's operating license five times.
NIS was placed on the sanctions list due to its majority Russian ownership, and the company submitted a special request to Washington back in March to be removed from that list.
