A total of 67 people evacuated from Israel traveled to the Serbian capital on this special flight. The evacuation took place in several stages, beginning with an organized land crossing to the Egyptian border, followed by transport to the airport in the Egyptian resort city of Sharm El Sheikh.

Damjan Jovic, State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who traveled to Egypt to coordinate the operation, emphasized that Serbia’s diplomatic and consular missions work around the clock in the interest of its citizens.

Jovic stated that it is the duty of the state to care for its citizens in all circumstances, both good and bad, and that this was precisely the reason for organizing the evacuation flight for those caught in war-affected areas.

He stressed that the flight was not intended exclusively for Serbian citizens, as it also included several citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Croatia, and Slovenia.
