During his stay in Beijing, President Vucic will meet with the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, as well as other senior officials of the PRC and representatives of major companies.
On September 3, President Vucic will attend the grand military parade marking Victory Day, to which leaders of 26 countries have been invited.
Alongside Vucic, the parade in Beijing will also be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
In addition, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will also be in Beijing.
According to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ceremonies will also be attended by leaders of Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, the Maldives, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe, and Myanmar.
Cooperation Between Serbia and China
Serbia attaches great importance to cooperation with China within the framework of the China–Central and Eastern European Countries cooperation mechanism, as well as through the Belt and Road initiative.
Vucic met with the President of China during his visit to Beijing in October 2023, when 18 agreements were signed, including the Free Trade Agreement between Serbia and China.
Xi Jinping visited Serbia in May 2024, as well as in 2016, which was the first visit of a Chinese president to Serbia in 32 years, when the Declaration on Strategic Partnership was signed.
In May 2024, during Xi’s visit to Serbia, the two presidents signed a Joint Statement on Deepening and Elevating the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and on Building a Community of Serbia and China with a Shared Future, while 28 cooperation documents were also exchanged.
