The Russian ambassador to Belgrade, Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko, stated for RIA Novosti that “the West wants to replace Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic with a weak politician controlled by the European Union.”

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic attended a formal dinner hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin to mark the celebration of May 9 and the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II.
During his talks with Vucic in Beijing, where both are attending the commemoration of Victory Day in World War II, Putin announced that by the end of the year another session of the Joint Committee on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Russian Federation will be held.
“For Serbia, cooperation with Russia at the highest level is extremely important in all areas, and I hope we will have the opportunity not only to preserve but also to improve certain aspects of our cooperation. Energy is a particularly important area for us, and the procurement of gas is of great significance,” Vucic told Putin in Russian.

Vucic and Putin last met in May in Moscow, when the President of Serbia attended the Victory Day commemoration. At that time, the talks focused on energy, military-technical cooperation, bilateral relations, and healthcare.
During his stay in Beijing, Vucic will also meet with President Xi Jinping, as well as with other senior Chinese officials and representatives of major companies.
On September 3, President Vucic will attend the grand military parade marking Victory Day, to which leaders of 26 countries have been invited.
