At the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, President Vucic was personally received by Emperor Naruhito.

“An exceptional honor and a unique arrival and reception ceremony at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. I am honored to have learned so much from Emperor Naruhito of Japan and proud to have had the opportunity to represent Serbia in such a place,” President Vucic wrote on Instagram.

He stated that he had asked Emperor Naruhito to consider the possibility of visiting Serbia, particularly given the still vivid memories of then-Prince Akihito’s visit to Belgrade in 1976.

President Vucic emphasized that this meeting opens a new chapter in bilateral relations and sends a clear message that Serbia and Japan are looking together toward the future.

“This meeting represents a confirmation of the deep mutual respect and friendship that connects our two countries,” Vucic said.

The President added that it is a great privilege for Serbia to have the opportunity to strengthen ties with one of the most developed and most respected nations in the world, especially through such a significant high-level encounter.

This was the first official meeting between President Vucic and Emperor Naruhito. President Vucic will also meet with the Prime Minister of Japan, Shigeru Ishiba.

From September 14 to 17, the President of Serbia is on a working visit to Japan. Yesterday in Osaka, he attended the official ceremony marking Serbia’s National Day at the EXPO exhibition in that city.
