Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP): Bomb Threats Reported at 807 Elementary and High Schools
In all police jurisdictions across the territory of the Republic of Serbia, by 9:30 a.m. today, bomb threats were reported at a total of 807 elementary and high schools, according to a statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP).
As stated, police officers from the relevant police departments, the Belgrade Police Department, the Criminal Police Directorate, and the Directorate for Technical Operations have been engaged in the response.
"The competent public prosecutor's office has been informed of the situation, and police officers are acting according to the Instruction on Procedures When Learning of or Receiving a Report About an Explosive Device or Material," the statement from the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs reads.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met in New York with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with whom he discussed, among other topics, a potential free trade agreement between Serbia and Israel.
The meeting of the Central European Initiative is of exceptional importance, particularly with regard to the modernization of rail transport between Trieste and Belgrade and the railway border crossing between Serbia and Croatia, said Marko Cadez, President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
Additionally, officers from the High-Tech Crime Unit within the Directorate for Technical Operations will use all available mechanisms of international cooperation to contact partners abroad in order to identify the sender of these threats.
As a reminder, the two largest elementary schools in Novi Pazar received emails about planted bombs this morning, and similar reports were received by schools in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Prijepolje, Nova Varos, Vranje, Sombor, Nis, and other locations.
The investigation is ongoing, and the relevant authorities are working to determine the origin of the email, which was sent from the same address to multiple schools.
